I have been to quite a few cooking schools before, but this experience was the best 'total' experience by far.
We were picked up at our hotel and given a short, but charming guided tour to the Payangan markets near Ubud.
We were met there by the most charming Balinese man we have ever met who took us on an amazing tour of his local market. Impeccable English and charm, Wayan Apel was incredible.
Then it got even better, our chef / guru was amazing, great English and wit.
The food creation was all hands on, in a wonderful kampung environment, you even get an insight into Balinese family life.
The food we made, with fresh bought local ingredients was sensational.
People of any cooking ability would find this amazing, and for us with some Asian cooking experience, we learnt a whole lot more.
Overall it was an amazing full day experience for less than 40 bucks which includes transport and lunch ......amazing.

I would highly recommend this as a must do Ubud experience, particularly for those who love to keep coming back to Ubud. By docrob_aust

Jukut Urab, a Favorite Menu of Balinese People

This jukut urab offers a good flavor and is easy to prepare. It is called jukut urab because the spices are mixed together with vegetable before serving, not during the cooking.
